This is one of those slap your forehead and say “Doh!” moments. I like to find new ways to dress up my ribbon cake stand. But, the cake stand is really made to accommodate half-inch ribbon. If I want a fuller bow, I need a wider ribbon, and those are difficult to thread.
So I was brushing my teeth last night and it finally occurred to me that Scotch tape would solve this problem. Really? I couldn’t have thought of that a year ago? Gee whiz. Here’s how to thread a ribbon cake stand — the easy way.
I really can’t even stand to call this a tutorial because it’s too simple. Fold your wide ribbon so it will fit easily in the weave of your cake stand. Tape the fold in place, and thread your ribbon.
If you want a rumpled look, fluff your ribbon as you go.
This also works well with several ribbons.
Tape them together, and you’re good to go.
Ta-da!
And here’s the one-inch purple ribbon, all finished.
Now I’m off to learn how to tie prettier bows!
