I have two girls and my mind just typically goes to girls’ party themes when I’m in planning mode. So I love to feature boys’ parties! This at-home camping party for boys from Faith of Faith’s Cookies is a great example of how a little creativity can go a long way. Welcome to the “Camp In: Camp Ten” Party!
For Faith’s son’s 10th birthday, she hosted a camping party and, since you can’t predict Mother Nature, she was prepared for indoor or outdoor camping. She invited six campers, plus the birthday boy’s sisters. Campers were asked to bring their sleeping bag, pillow and toothbrush. (Side note: how many sleepovers have your kids come home from, having never brushed their teeth?)
Camping Party Place Settings
At each place setting, Faith used brown and green gable boxes that she already had (love that) and added a camping sticker. The Thermoses held hot chocolate, and Faith added each camper’s initial.
The boxes became “camping survival kits” and each one held a map (Faith’s tip: AAA will send members up to 12 free maps), flashlight, Twinkie, gum, gummy worms and Goldfish crackers.
Faith says, “I set up the dinner table with pine cones, a lantern centerpiece and made burlap napkin rings hand stamped with an owl out of IKEA curtains. I also made two tablecloths from the same curtains.” (Note to self: learn to sew!)
Camping Dessert Table
At her dessert table, Faith used a map of the area as a backdrop. She made all the treats herself. (And if you ever need sweets, but don’t have the time to bake, Faith is your girl! Check out her site here.)
Faith says, “I made monogrammed cupcake wrappers with ‘Camp 10′ and ‘J’ and cupcakes with frosting and candy frogs, fish and turtles, peanut butter cookies, swamp trifles, bear paw marshmallow pops and mini double chocolate cookie cakes.”
“I baked a double layer cookie cake. The top layer was a double chocolate chip cookie and the bottom layer was a chocolate chip cookie cake. I added mini marshmallows onto pretzel sticks to resemble mini s’mores and made a burlap mini tent and added a candy bear and tree….everyone loved the cake.”
Camping Decorations
Faith hung twinkle lights over the french doors and made a burlap banner to spell out CAMP above the doors. (Twinkle lights just make everything happier, don’t they?)
She found some cute vintage camp accessories, such as mini oil lamps, a camp stool and a great vintage cake tin at a vintage warehouse in Lakeland, FL and also found a MESS kit at another local shop.
Camping Party Activities
For activities, the guests played touch football, played pass the parcel (whoopie cushions were a big hit), and toasted marshmallows over a camp fire to make s’mores.
Faith spray painted a pallet and added vinyl “10s” to balloons to create a photo booth backdrop. She included binoculars for “alligator sightings” in the lake – ha!
This activity table also kept the campers busy crafting.
Faith even added a wreath to the campers’ tent!
In the morning, the campers ate cereal and breakfast sandwiches.
Thank you, Faith, for letting me share your party!
Keep up with Faith

Thanks again Donna for featuring my Son’s party.
Have been thinking of sleepover party themes for the kids in the family (when they’re older). This camping concept is just great! Such creative & fun details Faith included!
Thanks so much for your kind comments:)
