What 8-year-old wouldn’t love a gold bling birthday party with silver and pink accents? Bernice of Betty Bake Blog created this shiny, sparkly party for her daughter. Bernice’s blog is a great resource for gluten-free recipes that are tasty and party-perfect.

Bernice did all the crafting and baking for the party — whew!

Even though Bernice did so much to create this party, I really like how it manages to be detailed and lovely and get not over the top. You could totally make the garland of cupcake liners and use spray paint to your advantage.

The large jars are filled with water and sequins for extra sparkle. The little jars hold homemade ice cream. (Get her recipe here.) Bernice dressed up the jar tops with gold and silver spray paint.

Bernice says, “In the open drawer of our white desk I put cupcakes (in gold liners) and hidden in a closed drawer for later were the party packs for when the girls went home. I also used some of the gold cupcake liners to make the garland hanging in the background.”

Bernice made the white fondant roses the week before and kept them in an airtight container until party day.

Outside, Bernice created an activities area, anchored with a silver blanket and pillows. Games included pass the parcel.

The pink sacks held a sewing craft for the girls — they made their own purses!

Above the blanket, Bernice hung a chandelier that she made — gasp — from two lampshade frames, lots of beads and ribbon. Wow.

The girls also made their own soda — what a great idea! Soda stream machine + sparkling water + juice.

Glitter flags on pink straws – love! It’s these little touches that girls around 8 will actually begin to appreciate.

Bernice’s daughter requested an ombre pink layer cake, which Bernice covered in white fondant and topped with edible jewels.

The party favors included these chocolate bars topped with jewels.

We usually have the children and family all together at one party, but Bernice invited family to come over after the kids’ party and served her dessert table leftovers. I think I like her idea better than the way we do things, just from a crowd control perspective.

For the second party, Bernie made a chocolate cake with gold frosting.
