As the daughter of an adopted child, I’m always so excited for adopting families. I understand — just a little bit — how joyful they are to finally find their child. This party for Walker just shines through with his momma’s happiness. Bethany of Sweet Georgia Sweet crafted this party for her son Walker’s 6th birthday — his first with his new family. Welcome to Walker’s Captain America Birthday Party!

If you don’t know Sweet Georgia Sweet, Bethany makes super-cute ribbon wreaths and topiaries. I bought two collegiate wreaths as Christmas presents this year and they were a big hit. Now it’s just a wild guess, but I’m thinking Captain America is Walker’s favorite superhero. Bethany used red, white and blue with pops of yellow throughout the party.

I envy any woman whose husband is cool with his wife using thumb tacks in the ceiling! These paper lanterns add a fun touch.

The milk glass vases were a great way to display the superhero photo props. I am loving milk glass right now. I have one vase on my desk (not that you can see it for the massive pile of papers …) and have collected a ton more for the girls’ birthday party. You can find these for less than $1 at Goodwill or $4 and up in antique stores.

There just has to be a superhero party in my future because I am a total sucker for these cookies.

I took one look at these cupcake toppers and thought, “These must be Edible Details.” Yup, Brittany strikes again! (Or should I say, “Brittany to the rescue!”) The blue pedestals are from Waiting on Martha, a shop and blog that’s new to me and I’ve had fun exploring.

These cups from I Have a Favor are really cute and only about $2 a cup. (Personalized a little more.) Do your kids have special birthday plates? Mine were given some at their first birthday party and we use them every year.

And here’s the sweet invitation and a banner for the gift table.
