There’s the Christmas card photo, and then there’s what it took to get the Christmas card photo. A quick shoot, one afternoon post-school … probably not the best idea.
Mommy: Girls! Miss Lissette will be here at 3:30 to take your photos. You need to run upstairs and take your showers.
M+G: But we’re not dirty!
Mommy: We’re having your picture made, so you’re taking a shower.
M+G: But we’re hungry.
Mommy: Grab a snack and eat it on your way upstairs.
M+G: But we can’t eat in the shower!
Mommy: Eat quickly.
(Later…)
M+G: But I don’t want my hair dried. Can’t it dry naturally?
Mommy: No, not for the photo. And you need to brush your teeth.
M+G: BRUSH OUR TEETH?!
Mommy: Yes, so your teeth will look pretty and white. Wait–why are your teeth orange? Never mind. Miss Lissette can edit it.
(At the location…)
Mommy: Now we have to hurry and listen to Miss Lissette because it’s starting to rain. Please. Please act like you like each other.
M+G: She’s PULLING ON MY ARM.
Mommy: OK. Just don’t touch each other. Wait–I forgot the chair!
(Don drives the chair to the rescue…)
Mommy: Meg, knees together. Sit up straight. Grace, please smile. Please.
M+G: Can we be DONE?
See that look in Baby B’s eye? That’s when we knew the shoot was over.
(With thanks for the patience and craftsmanship of Viridian Images Photography.)
Jennifer- this made me laugh! We just did our photos yesterday and I could relate. :). The photos and your girls are gorgeous!! Worth all of the effort. And then some.
Thanks, Lydia! I’m so glad it’s not just me!
Awesome post.
