One of my favorite decorative touches from my girls’ Favorite Things Party were our custom dessert plates. If you haven’t seen these before, they are totally cool and pretty low-cost. Create UR Plate sends you either glass or plastic plates (your choice) and you pick a custom cling to dress them up. They have an amazing selection of designs that lets you customize plates to match your party.

You know I guest blog over at Love the Day and my girl Lindi sent Create UR Plate one of the designs from the printable collection she made for my party — perfect match!

The best part is that the clings are removable and reusable. Once you have your plates, you can go back to Create UR Plate to order clings for any occasion. Lindi has a ton of designs built into the Create UR Plate shop — and so do a bunch of other great designers — so you can always find something ideal for any party or holiday.

You may remember that I have a small set of St. Patrick’s Day plates, which are awesome, but know how often I use them? Once a year. If you buy Create UR Plate instead, you can have custom plates all year round, just by rotating out the cling!

Your plates arrive in a box with a separate envelope of clings. I chose glass plates in the dessert size since I was using dinner plates as chargers. The plates come with the options of clear rim, white rim or red rim. I went back and forth about clear vs. white and finally choose clear.

TIP: In the end, I wanted a little more contrast between the charger and the plate, so I folded my yellow napkin under the plates.

The instructions are right on the box and could not be any easier.

Just peel the backing off the cling. Try not to touch the sticky part too much. Keep the backing and tuck it back into the envelope. When you’re done using the clings, return them to the backing so you can reuse them.

Turn the plate over, and apply the cling to the base of the plate. Your design will be face-down.

Smooth the cling into place.

Here’s the finished plate! When you’re done, peel off the clings, return them to the backing, and wash your plates. You can store the plates in the original packaging until your next party.

Sandy at Create UR Plate was kind enough to send me plates and clings for my party in exchange for this consideration. All opinions are my own. I only share products with you that I use and love.

I’ll have more tutorials from the rest of the party next week — hope you love this idea!
