Hills Brothers Cappuccino is my morning necessity. It’s sugar-free and just pennies a cup — a pretty good substitute for a Starbucks decaf mocha. The little red containers are so sturdy and cute that I had to try to turn them into a DIY party favor box.

DIY Party FAvor Box Supplies

  • Hills Brothers Cappuccino
  • GooGone
  • White washi tape (try CuteTape.com)
  • Blue painters tape or blue washi tape
  • Red and blue twine (try TheTwinery.com)
  • E6000 glue (try the WalMart craft aisle)

DIY Party FAvor Box Instructions

1 – Wash out your coffee container. Peel off the label and then use GooGone to remove any residue. Follow the package instructions on the GooGone; you may have to scrape off some sections of the label residue.

2 – Tie a bow in one end of your twine. Lay the twine on the container to get a feel for how long a section you will need. (Don’t trim your twine until you’re done.)

3 – Tear a small section of white washi tape, about two inches. Lay the twine in the center of the tape and fold the tape in half. Repeat with the blue tape. Alternate the two colors until you have five sections of tape on the twine.

4 – Fold each section of tape in half, then trim at an angle from the outside in to notch the tape.

5 – Tie a bow at the other end of the twine and trim it off.

6 – Use a dab of E6000 glue to attach each bow to the canister. (I tried hot glue and it wouldn’t stay on the plastic.)

My only cost for this project was $3.50 for the washi tape. Everything else I had on hand. You could easily do this with scrapbooking paper as well. With different bunting colors, this could be cute for a Mickey Mouse party or carnival party or Cars party. Would love to see your photos if you try this!
