All the excitement around the landing of the rover Curiosity on Mars made me want to celebrate. So I’m thinking that I’ll build a dessert table over the course of a week and share it with you. And I’m trying to do it with only what I already have. (So far, I’ve only purchased ribbon and disposable pie tins, so I’ve spent less than $6.) I’ll share it with you as I make progress.
So today’s project is a “Take Me To Your Leader” banner. Now I’m sure that Curiosity will prove there are no little green men on Mars, but what fun is that?
- Tin Foil
- Power Glue Stick
- Hole Punch
- Foam Letter Stickers
1 – Apply Power Glue Stick liberally to one side of your cardstock. Rip off a piece of tin foil slightly larger than your paper and smooth it down over the glue.
2 – Trim the excess tin foil off the cardstock.
3 – Cut 3″ strips of your cardstock, working horizontally.
4 – Cut each 3″ strip in half at a little more than the 4″ mark.
5 – On the cardstock side of your 3″ x 4″ strips, trace a triangle shape. Cut out a triangular notch from each strip.
6 – Add a letter to each piece to spell out “Take Me To Your Leader.”
7 – Punch a hole in each upper corner of your strips.
8 – Tie the strips together with ribbon. I used bright blue and green in 5″ lengths.
Tomorrow: the backdrop and some decorations.
