I think my Night Owl Sleepover girls are going to need some midnight snacks. Pretty much nothing makes me happier than peanut butter and chocolate, so I’m hoping a few of these Nutter Butter owls are left over! Here’s how to make Owl Nutter Butters.

Before we jump into the tutorial, it’s true confession time: I had a vision of these owls being pretty in pink. I’d dip them in candy coating, and they’d be smooth and pink darling. But no. Not smooth. Definitely not pretty. Not like these sheep from Hungry Happenings. Sometimes, you have to know when to quit and give your experiments to the kids to decorate.

  • Nutter Butters
  • Wilton eyes
  • Baker’s chocolate
  • Ziplock baggie
  • Scissors

1 – Melt your chocolate according to the package directions. I melted mine in the microwave on power 3, stirring every 30 seconds. Spoon your chocolate into the baggie, and snip off a tiny corner of the bag.

2 – Gently squeeze a small dot onto the back of a candy eye.

3 – Place the eyes at the top of your Nutter Butter.

4 – Slowly squeeze some chocolate into a triangle to form a beak. I started with an outline and then filled it in.

5 – Now, add your wings. You’re just making a W shape down either side.

Allow the chocolate to dry and harden for about an hour.
