Our hometown 4th of July parade is Norman Rockwell fun, but it also is steamy. So clearly we needed parade fans. This is a “use what you have around the house” project, and an easy craft to do with your kids.
4th of July Fan Supplies
- Paper plates
- 4th of July printable
- Packing tape
- Scotch tape
- Double-sided tape
- Paper trimmer or scissors
- Crepe paper
- Plastic fork or craft tongue depressor
4th of July Fan Instructions
1 – Print your 4th of July printable from Skip to My Lou. Trim it to a square shape (or whatever shape best fits your paper plate). Just lay the printable on your plate and crease it where you want to cut it.
2 – Break off the top of your fork. (Or just use a tongue depressor. I didn’t feel like driving to WalMart, so I used the forks.) Use the packing tape to attach the fork to the back of your paper plate.
3 – Fold your crepe paper so that each fold slightly overlaps the last.
4 – Tape your folded crepe paper to your plate as you go. Put this a little inside of where your printable will fit.
5 – When you get to a corner, just round your folded crepe paper.
6 – Put double-sided tape on the back of your printable and attach it to the center of your plate.
This project goes very quickly, and I guarantee your kids will have a blast with the fans.
