If you’ve been following along with me on Twitter or Instagram or Google+ or Facebook (she snorts at the restricted reach of FB posts…), then you know I’m a little nervous because I’m tackling the birthday cake for my girls’ party this year. Other than making it four-tier and trying a new icing technique, I’m trying to keep it simple (within my skill set). So when I see a plastic leprechaun pot, full to brim with gold coins … only to realize it is a pot of gold CAKE … well, color me impressed.
Ashlee from Topsy Turvy Cakes kindly allowed me to share her cake with you. Her blog features the full tutorial for how to make this cake.
So let’s talk about the cake. Chocolate cake, whipped ganache, and cheesecake. I’m putting on weight just thinking about it. And even the coins are edible.
I have to say, the tutorial makes this look do-able. I can’t even think about my own St. Patrick’s Day until after our party on Sunday, but this cake is putting me in a party frame of mind.
Feeling cake-y? Ashlee offers a video series on cake decorating! I really can’t think of a better way to learn. The first class is free — learn more here.
