Well, what’da ya know? I have readers in Switzerland, and one of them is a very sweet party planner who submitted today’s party feature. Tala Vondaniken of Perfect Packages operates in a very cool niche, as a one-stop-shop for expats in Switzerland, handling everything from bespoke party printables to weddings and event management. Tala designed the printables, planned and styled this In the Night Garden Birthday Party.
If you’re not familiar with it (and I wasn’t) “In the Night Garden” is a TV show for 1 to 7 year olds on the BBC. Little Miss Kiki — the birthday girl — is a big fan, so Tala created a party that was big, bold, colorful and extremely magical to appeal to very little people.
The dessert table combines the garden theme of the show with its characters and wonderful bright colors.
- Daisy cookies and grass-daisy cupcakes placed on fake grass pieces
- “Iggle Piggle” character cake pops
- Two-tier, carrot “Upsy Daisy” birthday cake
Tala mixed and matched orange chevron patterns with blue polka dots, and literally covered the table in butterflies and flowers!
Tala also used one of my favorite tricks to fill a dessert table without going overboard on food: toys from the TV were turned into props. In among the serving trays are the “Ninky Nonk” train, as well as “Iggle Piggle” and “Upsy Daisy” dolls. The fondant work on this cake is darling. Of course the figurine and her little grass mat are great, but the chevron really makes the cake pop. The party had full entertainment with a two-hour “Baby Sensory” session of games, dancing and singing, which put a giant smile on the birthday girl’s face. Tala says, “This was by far one of the most magical and fun parties I have ever set up!” To take home, guests received little treat bags filled with pastel colored chocolates, and water bottles for the mommies. How precious is Kiki? Love her!
