Most of my parties feature at least one sweet treat from Sparkling Sweets Boutique. Autumn creates stunning cake pops and lots of other party goodies. (Check out my two most recent Halloween parties here and here that feature her cake pops.) So as her boys were getting ready to turn 6 and 8, she planned a joint party with two desserts tables! Welcome to Autumn’s Cops and Robbers Birthday Party!
P.S. This would be a great party for twin boys, too!
If you’ve been playing along with me for a while, you know I teach that a dessert table for a birthday party doesn’t have to feed an army. (Did you miss Dessert Tables 101? Get caught up here.)
You can always fill in your table with non-dessert items for a nice full look. And bust my buttons if Autumn — the sweets designer — doesn’t agree. She said, “I knew right when I started planning this party that I would need two cakes… I decided to go with faux cakes! No way would we be able to eat two sweets tables full of candy and two huge cakes.” She used faux cakes from 4KidsCakes on both her dessert tables — one in prison stripes and one with caution tape. I love the little peg people!
Cops Dessert Table
Ethan (turning 6) set this party in motion by begging to be a police officer. Don’t you just love ….
- Faux cake with “caution” tape
- Sugar cookies from Creating Awesomenessity (who also created the cookies for our Gardening Party)
- Personalized cop badge fondant Oreo toppers from Fondant Fantasy
- Vanilla cake pops by Autumn — I haven’t tried straws as cake pop sticks, but they must be strong enough. And how cute is the printables slipped onto the straws?
Carli from Dimpleprints created these printables just for this Cops and Robbers Party. You can find the collection in her Etsy shop.
Autumn’s SIL Jackie from 6 am with Aeri created the personalized cop letter E for Ethan to match the printables–super cute!
But I think my favorite touch is the “bunting” made with handcuffs. Any time you can incorporate a laugh into a dessert table, I’m all for it!
Sunny from Sunny by Design designed these cop car themed favor boxes for the party and Autumn filled them with little chocolates. Sunny’s designs are printables, so you just buy the file, print, cut and assemble.
Robbers Dessert Table
Zaine (turning 8) played the part of the robber. Autumn said, ‘He certainly has more of a cop-like attitude, but had fun stealing little things from his brother the day of the party!”
Zaine’s table included:
- “This is a stick up!” cookies (also by Creating Awesomenessity) were such a hit at the party.
- Looks like the robber dropped his bags of loot: Fondant Fantasy created these adorable personalized Oreo cookie toppers.
- Chocolate loot bag cake pops, prison number Rice Krispies Treats and pretzel sticks with “handcuffs” by Autumn. The “prison number” is actually Zaine’s birthday, which is so clever!
Zaine’s dessert table is a mirror image of Ethan’s, with an orange and black theme, instead of a blue and yellow theme. Autumn duplicated the treats on each table, which kept her baking and ordering simple.
Once again Sunny from Sunny by Design created these amazing party favor boxes for all the robbers that attended the party! How cute is that matching money?
Autumn’s sister and Sunny stayed up way into the wee hours of the morning creating this jail for the boys to use as a photo prop. That’s some dedication!

Can you explain how those backdrops were done?
Where did you get the backdrops for the tables?
Hi Megan – I believe all the printables Autumn used, including the enlargements used as dessert table backdrops, came from Dimple Prints. However, I’m only seeing invitations in her shop: https://shop.dimpleprints.com/?s=cops+robbers&search_id=default&post_type=product I would use her contact form to see how you might purchase the rest of the printables. Good luck!
