I’ve been thinking about how we’ll do Halloween differently this year. Masks are pretty easy for a holiday that already involves costumes, and I think we’ll handle treats by passing out individually bagged candy. But I also wanted a way for the girls to connect with their friends, and that’s when I thought of Halloween surprise sprinkle cupcakes.
You know I love party sprinkles, so any excuse to play with them is a happy day for me. Check out these posts for more sprinkle-driven ideas:

Halloween Surprise Sprinkle Cupcake Instructions
I thought it would be fun for the girls to drop off plain frosted cupcakes to their friends along with a mini test tube of sprinkles. That way, their friends could decorate their own cupcakes. This project couldn’t be any easier and your kids can help you put together the gift sets.
1 – Make your own sprinkle mix by purchasing assorted Halloween sprinkles and combining them with small eyeball candies.
2 – Spoon sprinkle mix into the test tubes.
Our custom sprinkle mixes included:
- Candy corn colors + eyeballs
- Black, green and purple jimmies + eyeballs
- Orange and black + ghosts + orange nonpareils
3 – Add cute cupcake liners to your cupcakes. Assemble your cupcake boxes and insert cupcakes into the boxes.
4 – Wrap the box with twine and tie on tag.
5 – Drop off cupcakes on your friends’ doorsteps. Ring the doorbell, then back off and visit from a safe distance.
6 – I didn’t think to do this, but it would be fun to add a unique hashtag to your gift tags, so your friends can share their decorated cupcakes on Instagram.
If you try this, I’d love to see your photos! Tag me on Instagram with @thepartyteacher.
Happy (early) Halloween!
P.S. Of course we couldn’t resist decorating our own cupcakes. You’ll see you could decorate two cupcakes from each test tube of sprinkles.
