Years ago, my daughters went to a birthday party and came home with the cutest party favor. I thought I’d re-create it for you here with a couple extra ideas thrown in. The favor was a popcorn box filled with movie theater-size candy. And yes, both my girls were smart enough to hide the Reese’s cups from me. Whether you’re hosting an Oscar night party or a summer outdoor movie night party, I think this movie night party favor would be darling for your event.

Start with a plastic popcorn box. You can find these sometimes at the dollar store. I ordered mine on Amazon. You also need white paper shred and whatever assortment of candy you like. Finally, I made a favor tag on Canva. And pick up some washi tape to easily stick the thank you tag on your popcorn box.

Supplies

Instructions
Fill your popcorn box about 3/4 of the way full with the white paper shred.

Then take a small handful of paper shred and roll it between your hands until it forms a tight ball. That’s your popcorn!

Make about 10 popcorn balls.

Add a few of those balls to the paper shred that’s already in the popcorn box.

Then add your movie theater size candy. Next, insert few more popcorn balls strategically around the candy. The balls will help support the candy so it stays where you want it to be and also look like popcorn. Extra cute.

If you’re not familiar with Canva, it’s a very intuitive design program. You can join for free or pay for a pro membership and get access to much much more on the site. Sometimes I build my party printables on Canva instead of buying a set on Etsy if I only need one or two pieces. (That’s what I did for our Friendsgiving Pie Baking Party.)

This link will take you straight to the movie-style thank you tag that I created. You can make any edits that you want to the text. When you’re done, download a JPEG or PNG file of the thank you tag to your computer. Then send the file to your local drugstore and have it printed wallet size, with four images on each print. It costs pennies to print that way. Then all you have to do is cut out your tags and washi tape one to each popcorn box.

I love this party favor idea because who doesn’t like candy? It’s easy and fast to assemble, it looks impressive, and costs only about $8 per favor.

Add a movie theater gift card to this same idea, and you’ve got a great Christmas present from your kids to their friends.
Would you try this idea? Let me know in comments.
