If you’re following along on my Instagram, then you know I’m getting ready for a pink Halloween party. I’m doing a little bit every day — just like I teach in The Party Course. It’s the only way I manage to work full time and throw all the parties I want to without pulling out my hair.
So today, I’m sharing four quick and easy DIYs for my pink Halloween party. Try these ideas for your own Halloween party!
- Bats with bows
- Pink pumpkins with bows
- Bejeweled cutlery
- Felt ghost banner
Bats with bows
I had these bats left over from my Haunted Halloween candy table. They are so easy to work with because they are basically plastic so they also hold up well and I get to use them year after year.
Supplies for bats with bows
Tutorial for Bats with Bows
1 – Crease the bat wings along the fold lines, alternating the direction of the folds.
2 – Add a glue dot. A mini glue dot would be perfect but I had regular-size dots, so I just cut them in quarters.
3 – Add your bow on the dot and press to form a bond.
4 – The bats have stickers on the back or you can hang them using a removable pop-up glue dot.
Pink Pumpkins with Bats
The bat set comes with 60 bats of various sizes, so you can definitely do more than one project with them. (I’m also planning to add the bats to my party backdrop.)
Supplies for Pink Pumpkins with bats
- 3-D PVC Bats from Amazon
- Pink pumpkin set from Amazon
- Dollar store and craft store spiders
- Mini glue dots
Tutorial for Pink Pumpkins with bats
1 – Crease the bat wings along the fold lines, alternating the direction of the folds.
2 – Apply the pop-up glue dot to the back of the bat body and press the bat onto the pumpkin. Alternate bat size, angle and placement as you go.
3 – For the smaller pumpkins, I also added mini pink bows, the smallest bats and glitter spiders with the pop-up glue dots.
Bejeweled Cutlery
I like working with wood cutlery for parties because it’s easy and fun to decorate. For this set, I used paint plus rhinestone stickers left over from my Stars & Stripes 4th of July Party. It’s an easy technique to decorate your cutlery that you could adapt for any party.
Supplies for Bejeweled Cutlery
- Wood cutlery from Amazon
- Rhinestone stickers from Amazon
- Black acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- Washi tape or painter’s tape
Tutorial for Bejeweled Cutlery
1 – Decide how far up the utensil handle you want the paint to go. BUT: make sure the paint line stops far enough up the handle that no one could accidentally put paint in their mouth.
Tape off that border with washi tape, wrapping it around the utensil and pressing down to prevent paint leakage.
2 – Paint the front, back and sides of the handle with acrylic paint. Mine only needed one coat.
3 – When the paint is dry (about 15 minutes), peel off the washi tape.
4 – Apply the rhinestone stickers. I made each utensil a little different, but kept the sticker colors to light pink, darker pink, orange and black.
Felt Ghost Banner
You can find a set of 12 felt ghosts from Dollar Tree that make this project really easy. I’ll decide exactly how long to make my ghost banner once I have my party backdrop set up.
Supplies for Felt Ghost Banner
- Felt ghosts from Dollar Tree
- Black scrapbooking paper
- 2-inch hole punch
- White glue (I used Aleene’s Thick Tacky Glue)
- Black and white baker’s twine
- Needle with eye large enough for baker’s twine
- Scissors
Tutorial for Felt Ghost Banner
1 – The felt ghosts have eyes and a mouth that are pre-cut-out. Just push the eyes and mouth out of the ghost.
2 – Use a 2-inch hole punch (or freehand cut) a circle of black scrapbooking paper. Place a dot of glue where the ghost’s nose would be.
3 – Press on black paper onto the glue so it covers the eyes and mouth. This is now the back of your ghost.
4 – Thread the needle with the baker’s twine. Pull the twine up into the ghost hand from the back. Allow about 2 millimeters, then push the twine back down the ghost hand. Repeat on the ghost’s other hand so the twine runs behind each ghost.
5 – Repeat with the next ghost, leaving about an inch of twine between each ghost. Once you hang the banner, you will be able to slide the ghosts to position them where you want them.
6 – Add as many ghosts as you like to your banner. When you’re ready to hang the banner, tie a small loop in either end of the baker’s twine. Hang the loop from a Command Strip hook.
Those are my projects so far. I can’t wait to share the finished pink Halloween party with you!
