Let’s talk food — the heart of any great party! A buffet is your secret weapon for feeding a crowd with minimal stress. Plus: the Super Bowl definitely lends itself to asking guests to bring a dish or dessert. Declare this a potluck party and don’t take on the stress of trying to do it all yourself!

Super bowl Party Decor That Scores Big
Transform your TV room with simple, festive touches:
- Hang team-color streamers
- Ask me to make custom ribbon buntings in team colors or opt for my football bunting
- Create a “fan zone” with team pennants
- Set up a photo booth with props like foam fingers and team jerseys
- Order a custom balloon garland so you can choose team colors from my favorite balloon supplier, Bashify
- Or, opt for Bashify’s football balloon garland
- Football paper lanterns (I’ve used this brand and it was great)
- 3 football-themed pre-strung banners: footballs, field and “game time”
- Grab some of the football free printables I’ve curated

Note that I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you purchase through the Bashify links in this post. I use Bashify balloon garlands myself and love them, which is why I choose to promote them.

And this isn’t strictly a decor item, but if you want to add a football pool for the adults to your evening, try this free football squares printable from Living Locurto. Amy worked the poster into her party decor and it looks great!

Setting up Your Super bowl Buffet
You’ll want to set up three buffet areas to keep your traffic flowing easily:
- Area for food — choose your largest serving area, like your dining room table
- Area for desserts — choose a smaller area, so maybe a kitchen island
- Area for drinks — make this a third buffet station, maybe your kitchen table
You’ll also want to make sure food stays at safe temperatures on your buffet.
For hot foods: A food warming mat (24″ x 16″) can be a good option for keeping a variety of dishes warm. Or if you’ll serve dips or chili, consider a three-slow cooker warmer with lid holders.
For cold foods: Try an acrylic chilled serving tray (11″ x 15″) that lets you put ice in the lower level, perfect for keeping cold foods cool. You’ll find different sizes, shapes and inserts available — some even made for specific purposes like charcuterie or deviled eggs.
For snacks or desserts: A tiered tray can be so handy because it lets you take advantage of vertical height. If you choose a tin tiered tray, you may also want coordinating flat trays that will let you organize bottled drinks, cupcakes or anything else.
For drinks: invest in a drink tub — you can find tubs that are less expensive but this one is stainless steel, and so will last longer than tin tubs. You also may want a drink dispenser; I like this set, which is perfect for offering sweet and unsweet tea. (Remember to add saucers under the dispensers to catch any drips.)

Disposable Options for Your Super Bowl Tabletop
If there were ever a party to opt for paper plates, napkins and cups, a Super Bowl party is it. Here are my favorite football-themed tabletop products for hosting a Super Bowl party:
- Linen football field table runner (available in a variety of lengths; I love that this is linen so you can reuse it for future parties and game days)
- 50 disposable football plates
- 50 football and field paper boats — you have to assemble these, but they could be easier for kids to manage
- 50 snack cups — these are great for popcorn or salads or fruit or cut vegetables
- 36 playbook dessert plates — you’ll want plates on the food buffet and separately on the dessert buffet
- 120 napkins in football, referee, playbook and field styles (I know this seems like a lot of napkins, but I bet you’ll go through them. Yellow napkins would also be cute “penalty flags.”)
- 100 football and field 16 oz cups
- 100 football party picks, perfect for sandwiches, cupcakes or mini-skewers
- 24 football can cooler sleeves (because you know guests will forget to use coasters)
- Black plastic cutlery
Kid Entertainment Playbook
Prepare for kids to have game-watching fatigue with these activities:
- Halftime craft station (include free NFL-themed coloring pages and crayons) or cut out and thread paper footballs
- Football toss game in another room
- Bingo game with football-related spaces
- Quiet activity stations with puzzles and small toys
- Encourage a dance break during half-time so the kids can work out their wiggles
- Fun Squared’s free football predictions printable for the older kids
- How about face painting with team colors?
- And for no particular reason this year, would the kids want to make friendship bracelets?
You may want to hire a babysitter to watch over kids who aren’t into the game. Maybe they could have their own snacks and activities in a different room, like a basement playroom.

Inspirational Football Parties
This Super Bowl party from Jaclyn James has so many cute touches, including referee water bottles, a watermelon carved into a helmet shape, chip bags, and football brownies.

I’ve always loved this neutral and rustic football party from AndersRuff (featured on Hostess With the Mostess). Pop in your team’s colors and you’re good to go!

Want to see a beautiful food spread and darling centerpiece idea? Check out this “ready, set, eat” football party from Melissa Roberts Interiors.

How about a football dessert table including an ice cream Sunday bar? Yes, please! Palm to Pine Design created this amazing football party for her son’s birthday. It has loads of ideas you can copy (including chocolate dipped Oreo cookies turned into footballs).

I hosted this party for UGA’s opening game a few years back, but you could change the colors and pull some ideas from this dessert table.
