Are you a frosting person? I definitely am, but we are a house divided (on frosting). So I hit on the idea of baking candy corn, candy eyes, and sprinkles into brownie bites to make easy Halloween brownies.
The trick is in the timing, and you may have to play with this a little bit, depending on your oven. Bake just one batch at a time to make sure you’ve hit on the right combination.
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Spray a non-stick brownie bites pan with Pam.
- Make your brownie mix.
- Bake for 8 minutes.
- Pull out the brownie bites and add candy corn or candy eyes, plus sprinkles. Don’t press down.
- Return to the oven for 5 minutes.
- Let the brownie bites cool in the pan, then gently remove with a small silicone spatula.
Brownies should be chewy but baked though. Candy and sprinkles should stick to the top of the brownies without melting.
Here’s how the brownies look when you pull them out of the oven after 8 minutes.
If you bake too long before adding the candies, the brownie tops will be too firm to stick to the candy.
If you bake too long after adding the candies, they’ll melt into the brownies.
Let your kids mix up the brownies and help decorate the tops. It’s an easy Halloween treat that looks festive but doesn’t take a lot of work.
