We’ve started decorating for Christmas at our house, and that’s put me in the mood for classic Christmas TV specials. I thought surely someone had created a Grinch party and went searching. Kate Petronis of And Everything Sweet did not let me down and I’m thrilled that she graciously agreed to let me feature her Grinch first birthday party dessert table.
Kate created this dessert table for a little boy’s first birthday party. His mom’s concept was that the Grinch stole the Who’s Christmas to put the focus back on boys and girls with December birthdays. Pretty clever!
Kate styled the backdrop to look like a wrapped present. All the desserts represent things that the Grinch stole from the Who’s — and Kate made them all!
“Then he slithered and slunk, with a smile most unpleasant,
Around the whole room, and he took every present!”
“He took the Who pudding!”
” `And NOW!’ grinned the Grinch, `I will stuff up the tree!’ “
“And the one speck of food
That he left in the house
Was a crumb that was even too small for a mouse.”
The birthday boy had his own smash cake, complete with bunting. Don’t you love how they added this line about “and he even took the icing right off the cake’?
And the guests enjoyed this stunning cake by Kate that looks like it came straight from the book. Wow.
“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before!
`Maybe Christmas,’ he thought, `doesn’t come from a store.’
`Maybe Christmas … perhaps … means a little bit more!’ “
Thank you, Kate, for sharing your party with us!
Hello! I’m trying to throw a “how the grinch stole my birthday” party for my going to be one ear old and I was wondering where you got all of these items for the party!
Hi Monica – This is a guest party from Kate Petronis. I don’t have vendor details and they are not on her original post. http://andeverythingsweet.blogspot.com/2011/12/grinch-themed-dessert-table.html But, you could try going to Kate’s blog and asking her directly. Good luck!
