I typically pull out my Grandmother’s china for Easter and this year is no exception. It is getting more delicate as the years go on, so at some point, I may have to stop using it. But for now, I’m leaning into the pattern’s colors. Two years ago, I styled a yellow/white Easter and this year, I’m going for a green and white Easter table setting.
Add flocked bunnies to a sideboard
Since we have a new dining room table and chairs, plus art and Wedgewood plates on the wall, I was determined to use mainly what I already had. (Well, the table is not new — just new to us. The table and chairs are English antiques.)
However… the WalMart flocked bunnies in cream were not possible to pass up. I bought one 27-inch bunny, two 16-inch bunnies and two 9-inch bunnies.
I really like the bunnies as-is — they are so clean and simple — but I did add just a touch of faux flowers to the big bunny. The flowers were from my stash and all I did was snip off the flower heads and attach them with pop-up glue dots. (Use hot glue if you want a more permanent embellishment.)
I like that the bunnies add that Easter touch to my sideboard without requiring much effort at all. They are also easy to move around as I add more desserts to the sideboard.
For now, I just have a carrot cake from Publix, that was delicious and makes me wonder why I’d go to the trouble of making my own?
The cake stand is the Jillian cake stand from Ballard Designs. The natural mango wood and the size make it one I reach for frequently. I also put dessert plates on the sideboard to make cutting the cake more convenient.
Green & White Ombre CenterpieceS
Instead of one central flower arrangement, I decided to make a series of small arrangements using 3-inch square glass vases from Dollar Tree. (I’m not seeing those online now, but Michael’s has similar vases.)
Baby B and I chose white and green flowers from the grocery store including:
- Green hydrangeas
- Green mums
- Green pom-pom mums
- White hydrangeas
- White carnations
- White roses
The roses were on clearance, so our total was only $46, which I thought was pretty good for the quantity of flowers we got.
I made five floral arrangements (two white, one white and green, and two green) so they created an ombre effect down the center of the table. I’ll share more about the flowers in another post.
Here are the flowers from the other direction.
Green & White Easter Place settings
For this year’s place settings, I found these grass green placemats from Home Brilliant and paired them with green scalloped napkins from PurpleEssences. I just tied a bow around the napkins using some of the same double-faced satin ribbon I use for my ribbon buntings.
I didn’t have enough of my good silver for six places, so I used my sterling and mixed vintage silverplate from Bee Haven Home on Etsy. I originally used the silverplate for my daughters’ sweet 16 party.
Each place setting has a dinner plate topped by a napkin, bread plate, water and wine glasses, and coffee cup with saucer. (This post walks you through a formal place setting.) I had to push the coffee cups a little out of position to make everything fit on this more narrow table.
I do like going formal twice a year. How do you set your Easter table? Are you keeping it casual or pulling out the good stuff?
